Here are two USA Made in America Signature Basses from the 1989 era that absolutely show how nice theses basses were! They originally sold in the $1300.00 range and the company was quickly shut down by FENDER because the Signatures were too close for comfort to FENDER. Considered what would be termed Lawsuit Basses the company folded and the remaining stock was bought out by a fellow named Goerdt Lambert who has some bodies and necks and builds from what he has, for anyone who must get their hands on one of these. I have had three of them and I love the Signature basses myself as they feel exactly like my 70's FENDER JAZZ basses but lighter. I love the bound necks and the real Mother of Pear inlays. The stock Signature pickups are stronger than the FENDERS and have a killer sound like the best of the Vintage Jazz Basses. Enjoy the look here at the Basslife website, and by the way, I recently added an Audere Preamp to the Chrome one. I can not tell you how good this bass sounds!! It is clearly as good as any high end boutique bass in sound and feel. This is another example of finding killer basses that do not cost a fortune. I also play the passive Signature through my Sadowsky Preamp and all of a sudden it thinks it's a Sadowsky! Seriuosly, it really comes alive with full rich tone that is soooo musical. Enjoy the look at two of the rare Signatures. The one with the Gold Trim must have been a special order as this is not how most of them came. If interested, I might be inclined to sell them and will supply the Chrome bass with or without the Audere Preamp. Either way the stock control plate goes with it. "The Signature Jazz Bass"
"The Chrome Trim"
Beautiful Detail in the Handmade Signature Bass
"Beautiful Block Inlays"
" Bound Neck and Tortoise Shell P/Guard"
This is the Gold Trim Signature that was probably a "Special Order". It was built for me by Goerdt Lambert with the inventory that he bought after Signature closed down. The body has a scratch on the back and the neck has a slight scratch on the sixth fret, but even with a couple of flaws this bass is a killer. The scratches have no effect on the playability or sound and only give this survivor a little character! With through body stringing, quality hardware, great pickups and a bound and blocked Mother of Pearl inlayed neck, the Signature is a Beautiful Bass in person. Instantly you feel the comfort and playability of this great instrument.
